Single Port radical nephrectomy

Removal of the whole kidney for cancer where an SP approach is anatomically feasible. Comparative evidence vs multiport is currently very limited.1,21

Evidence context

SP radical nephrectomy is feasible in published case series, but comparative evidence is sparse. Only one comparative study was eligible for the renal sub-analysis in Ficarra et al. 2025.1 Decisions therefore weigh oncological need, anatomy, and surgeon experience alongside the published feasibility data.21

When SP may be discussed

Where tumour size, location, and patient build allow safe completion through a single-access retroperitoneal or alternative approach, SP may be offered as part of a full discussion of multiport robotic and open options.
